Italian brand makes Manhattan acquisition
Manhattan-based custom riding boot producer Vogel has a new owner. The company which has been making artisan equestrian boots and other footwear since 1879 has been acquired by KASK, an Italian manufacturer of helmets for cycling and winter sports, as well as for horse-riding.
KASK general manager, Diego Zambon, said the company would relaunch Vogel and build a growth strategy for it. This will include a new showroom in Manhattan, in which consumers will be able to see the brand’s artisans at work.
“We have known Vogel for several years now,” Mr Zambon said, “and we appreciate the value of its artisanal craftsmanship, focused on delivering exquisite quality both in terms of its riding boots and the shoes it makes for business people.”
He said KASK had made the decision to acquire the brand after evaluating “several crossover points in our stories”. These include being “rooted in locality” (KASK in Chiuduno, near Bergamo, and Vogel in Manhattan) and a “constant pursuit of excellence”.
