Armani pulls out of Milan and Paris shows

06/01/2022

Milan-headquartered Giorgio Armani, the company behind the Giorgio Armani, Emporio Armani and Giorgio Armani Privé labels, among others, has announced the cancellation of its upcoming fashion shows for the three divisions aforementioned.

Both the Giorgio Armani and Emporio Armani brands were scheduled to showcase their collections during Milan Fashion Week Men’s (January 14 through 18), whereas Giorgio Armani Privé was set to show during Haute Couture Week in Paris between January 24 and 27.

“The shows are crucial and irreplaceable occasions, but the health and safety of both employees and the public must once again take priority,” the organisation said, alluding to the ongoing impact of covid-19 on the fashion industry.

Giorgio Armani was among the first fashion companies to cancel in-person shows in response to the coronavirus pandemic last year.

Milan’s Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana recently confirmed that the city’s broader fashion week event is still planned to take place physically January, although “some changes” to the calendar could be announced in the coming days.

Haute Couture Week published its calendar in late December, with no other changes announced as yet.
