Brazil: footwear exports exceed pre-pandemic volumes
National footwear industry body Abicalçados has reported exports for Brazil in the first 11 months of the year of 110 million pairs in volume, bringing in $805.7 million in revenues.
These figures represent an increase of 31% in volume and of 34.6% in value compared to the same months in 2020.
Compared to the January-November period in 2019, these more recent figures show an increase of 5.6% in volume. Compared to the 2019 figures, though, revenues were down by 9.6%.
Abicalçados executive president, Haroldo Ferreira, said the speed of the sector’s recovery had been surprising and, he said, offered a positive prospect for 2022.
