Loss of skills fear in Riviera del Brenta
Employment agency ADHR Group has said a new branch it has opened in the town of Piove di Sacco, between Padua and Venice, has immediate opportunities for footwear professionals.
On opening the new office there, ADHR said it hoped to recruit around 30 people for footwear manufacturers in the nearby Riviera del Brenta area.
A spokesperson, Raffaella Ravasi, said she hoped the demand for skilled footwear workers in factories that make shoes for some of the best known fashion brands in the world would help bring younger people into the footwear industry.
She said that in recent years the industry had lost a large number of people with expertise in finishing, stitching, pre-assembly, assembly and other parts of the shoemaking process, adding that she hoped young people would come forward to help preserve these traditional skills.
