Amina Muaddi honoured in Doha
Luxury footwear and accessories designer Amina Muaddi has been named the first ever recipient of Fashion Trust Arabia (FTA)’s Entrepreneur of the Year award during the FTA’s third annual prize-giving ceremony at the National Museum of Qatar in Doha.
This year’s FTA Prize jury included renowned fashion industry figures such as French stylist Carine Roitfeld, Lebanese fashion designer Elie Saab and Valentino’s Italian creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli.
Born in Romania to a Jordanian father and a Romanian mother, Ms Muaddi was raised between Jordan, Romania and Italy. She studied at the European Institute of Design in Milan, followed by stints as a stylist for major publications in Italy and the United States.
Prior to launching her eponymous shoe line in 2017, Ms Muaddi assisted with the conceptualisation of haute couture designer Alexandre Vauthier’s own brand of luxury footwear.
Since experiencing much influencer-endorsed success with her Amina Muaddi label, the designer has also collaborated with the likes of singer Rihanna, rapper ASAP Rocky and high-end hosiery, intimates and ready-to-wear manufacturer Wolford in recent years.
Today, Ms Muaddi is particularly known for popularising the contemporary fluted heel, a brand signature.
