Water resistance will extend lifespan of shoes and leather products
Leather chemicals group Smit & Zoon has brought to market a new fatliquor for making leather water-resistant.
It has said this addition to its portfolio, which is called Aguastop PS 210, will enable tanners to implement a reliable, modern, simplified process for giving leather a high level of water resistance, while reducing their own water consumption.
It will endow shoes and finished leather products such as bags and gloves with protection against water, thereby extending their lifespan, Smit & Zoon has argued, and reducing the carbon footprint of these products and the leather they are made from.
