Growth for Dr Martens, despite pandemic

Footwear brand Dr Martens sold 12.1 million pairs of shoes and boots in the 12 months ending March 21, 2021. This represented an increase in volume of 14.4% compared to the previous business year.

It achieved revenues of £773 million, an increase of 15% year on year. Earnings before tax were £71 million, but it said that figure would have been more than £150 million but for expenses relating to Dr Martens going public at the start of 2021.

Chief executive, Kenny Wilson, told Reuters that to have achieved increased sales volumes and revenues during a global pandemic illustrated the strength of the brand.
