Imperfections laid bare in new Puma shoe
Puma has released a new shoe called the Mirage Sport, calling it the successor in a long lineage of Mirage shoes that it introduced in the 1970s.
It said its design team had worked hard to bring the brand’s “design language forward, playing with archive references and mashing them with futuristic details”.
Also, it said it wanted to reveal more about the manufacturing process in the new shoe, laying bare some of the “imperfections that come in the early sampling of a sneaker”.
The brand’s design lead for sportstyle footwear, Danny Taylor, explained: “This can be seen through exposing the foam under the collar, exaggerating the loose edges of the materials and various elements that are intentionally disconnected from the upper to emphasise the overall layering.”
