Desma forced to postpone House Fair again

Footwear machinery group Desma has cancelled the 2021 edition of its House Fair exhibition.

Every two years, Desma holds this autumn gathering at its headquarters in Achim, near Bremen, to show customers the latest developments in its own technology, as well as innovations from select partners in the shoe manufacturing supply chain.

In spite of the covid-19 pandemic, it was confident of being able to hold the event in September but has taken then decision to postpone it until 2022. The House Fair has traditionally taken place in even years, but was postponed last year too because of the pandemic. This new postponement puts the even-year sequence back on track, but it will mean a gap of four years since the previous edition in 2018.

“We sincerely regret this decision, because right up until now we had still hoped to welcome you all to Achim again this September,” Desma said. “However, the pandemic currently prevents any gathering of this kind. As we attach great importance to your safety, we have decided to postpone the DESMA house fair until 2022.”

It said the outlook for 2021 is promising because the global economy is recovering, consumer spending is increasing and the effects of vaccination programmes “are bound to become apparent soon”.
