Vans co-founder dies
Footwear brand Vans has announced the death of co-founder, Paul Van Doren. Mr Van Doren died on May 6 at the age of 90, just days after the publication of his autobiography, ‘Authentic’.
With his brother, James, and a group of friends, Paul Van Doren founded Vans in Anaheim in 1966. He ran the company until 1976, when James Van Doren took over.
On announcing his death, the brand said that Mr Van Doren had been not just an entrepreneur but an innovator. It quoted his legacy as being a determination to “do what’s right, stand behind what you do every minute of every day and take care of people” and said countless consumers had bought into this across the decades.
