First Asian Métiers d’Excellence programme launches in Japan
LVMH unveiled the first edition of its Institut des Métiers d’Excellence (IME) vocational training program in Asia in early April in partnership with Japan’s Professional Institute of International Fashion and Mode Gakuen college of fashion.
Created by LVMH in Paris in 2014, the Institut des Métiers d’Excellence passes on savoir-faire in creative, craft and retail professions to new generations and people who are looking for reskilling opportunities. Since the creation of the IME, 28 programmes have been set up in Europe, training nearly 1,000 new creative and craft employees.
The Japanese programme start on April 15 and welcomed 12 participants from diverse backgrounds; previous luxury or fashion experience was not a prerequisite. The course will last for one year. Participants in this first edition of the Institut des Métiers d’Excellence in Japan are exempt from tuition fees and will receive a living allowance during their training.
LVMH chief executive in Japan, Norbert Leuret, said that facilitating a return to work for women after extended leave was a particular priority for the programme. He said the group was passionate about enabling women “to pursue successful professional careers, combined with a healthy work-life balance”.
Upon completing the programme, participants will receive a certificate and have the opportunity to work as customer advisors at one of 12 LVMH brands in Japan: Bvlgari, Celine, Christian Dior Couture, Fendi, Fred, Guerlain, Loewe, Loro Piana, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Parfums Christian Dior and Tag Heuer.
