Marc Fisher sued for almost $1.5 million
The Trump Organization, founded by the paternal grandmother and father of former US President Donald Trump in 1923, filed a complaint against shoemaker Marc Fisher for non-payment of rent in a Manhattan court in early March.
The organisation sought a court order forcing Mr Fisher, whose showroom occupies the 21st floor of Trump Tower in New York City, to pay almost $1.47 million under a 2015 lease for the entirety of the 21st floor and part of the 22nd floor.
According to court documents seen by Bloomberg, the monthly rent owed by Mr Fisher is $144,936, with a security deposit of almost $49,000.
Marc Fisher specialises in “casual luxe”, own-branded women’s designer shoes.
The Marc Fisher Footwear company made Ivanka Trump shoes under a licence until the latter fashion line was shut down in 2018. Mr Fisher’s shoemaking enterprise was the third-largest tenant in Trump Tower as of July 2019, after Gucci America and the Trump Organization itself.
