UITIC, the International Union of Shoe Industry Technicians, has announced that its twenty-first International Footwear Congress, scheduled to take place in China this year, will be postponed until 2022.

The organisation’s president, Yves Morin, said on making the announcement that China “is almost back to normal”. But he said hosting an international congress there would still be difficult this year because of the restrictions covid-19 continues to place on international travel.

“It’s true that it has been a long time since the twentieth congress in Portugal in 2018,” Mr Morin said. “However the current situation means we have to be responsible and cautious and to rethink all our processes.”
