Wide-ranging discussion on technology at Safety Footwear Revolution Week
An impressive panel took part in a detailed discussion about technology on the third morning of the Safety Footwear Revolution Week event. The event was organised by specialist soling provider ALOFT and safety footwear brands AMF Safety Shoes and Toworkfor.
Industry figures taking part in the discussion about technological developments were Ambrogio Merlo representing Michelin soling technology, Dr Kurt Beschorner from the University of Pittsburgh, Sympatex chief executive, Dr Rüdiger Fox, and the founder and chief executive of 3D bonding technology provider Simplicity Works, Adrián Hernández. A member of the management team at ALOFT, Pedro Castro, was the moderator.
This discussion covered a wide range of subjects, including how to bring cutting-edge research into the tools that footwear manufacturers can use, the benefits and limitations of artificial intelligence, the circular economy and the role of customers in driving innovation.
Many of these topics will feed into longer articles that World Footwear magazine will publish in the course of 2021.
