LWG tanneries to access ZDHC’s chemicals options
Leather Working Group (LWG) audited tanneries will be allowed to access the ZDHC Gateway, a list of approved chemicals, for free as part of an agreement between the multi-stakeholder body and the ZDHC Foundation.
The Gateway includes the ZDHC Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (ZDHC MRSL), and highlights alternative chemistry from 1,200 chemical groups.
Klaas Nuttbohm, ZDHC implementation director, said: “This partnership is about accelerating implementation.
"The access to the ZDHC Gateway will make it easier and more efficient for the leather manufacturers and the chemical companies."
LWG-certified leather manufacturers can invite their chemical suppliers into the Gateway, allowing them verify their formulations according to ZDHC’s MRSL.
