Tapestry says Q1 result exceeds expectations

Tapestry has reported revenues of just under $1.2 billion for the first quarter of its business year, the three-month period ending September 26. This represents a decline of 14% year on year.

Newly confirmed chief executive, Joanne Crevoiserat,  said this result exceeded the expectations of the group.

She said the result underscored the power of the group’s brands, Coach, Kate Spade and Stuart Weitzman.

Coach’s revenues for the quarter were $875.4 million, down by 10% year on year. Declines at Kate Spade and Stuart Weitzman were steeper, 21% and 35%, with revenues of $240.4 million and $56.4 million, respectively.
