Digitalisation is here to stay
Non-profit footwear organisation CCI (Cluster Calzado Innovación) has said a recent online seminar to discuss the digitalisation of shoe production was a success.
CCI, which represents 55 footwear manufacturers in Elda and Petrer in eastern Spain, organised the event in partnership with research body Inescop and national footwear industry association FICE. It took place on October 6.
Afterwards, Inescop communications director, Almudena García, said the presentations had examined the challenges and opportunities that digitalisation offers at every stage of the shoemaking process, from the initial stages of product specification and all the way through the manufacturing process, to delivery of the final product to consumers using cloud- and e-commerce-based technology.
“The fact is that digitalisation is here to stay,” Ms García said. “But it’s also true that it can be the key to improving the competitiveness of any business. That applies to footwear as much as to any other industry.”
