Taiwanese embrace ‘Real Leather, Stay Different’ competition
The Taiwanese leg of the Leather & Hide Council of America (LHCA)’s 'Real Leather. Stay Different' design competition attracted more than 300 entries from students, building on the success of similar competitions running in China, Italy and the UK. In June, 23 designs from four design categories were shortlisted and requested to make real products from US leather. Leather sponsors include Tyche Leather Industrial, Wei Tai Leather, Shan Been Jeou Industrial, Lien Shun Yang Leather and Ligo Leather Enterprise. The Footwear & Recreation Technology Research Institute, Indian Leather Crafta and Yeh Ming Fu Leather Craf provided venues for the students to make products and technical assistance in selecting the fabrics. On September 8, winners will be honoured at an awards ceremony hosted by LHCA in partnership with Taiwan International Leather Association.
