Selfridges launches sustainability initiative
Selfridges has unveiled Project Earth, an initiative aimed at helping customers change the way they shop. This includes addressing materials used in their products and looking into new retail models such as repair and resale.

The core of the project centres around the company’s new commitments on materials and a pledge that by 2025 they will only stock products that adhere to their new sourcing standards. For leather, suppliers must show evidence of working towards a traceable supply chain starting at the abattoir. Only tanneries rated Gold, Silver or Bronze as audited by the Leather Working Group will be accepted.

Another initiative, Repairs Concierge, aims to help customers give much-loved items a second lease of life. Repair experts offering in-store or online consultations will help identify the services needed to make clothing, bags, jewellery and shoes as good as new.
