Sri Lanka’s export development board has said the country’s leather and footwear sectors earned export revenues of $17.3 million in the first six months of 2020.

This figure represents a decline of more than 60% year on year.

Overall export revenues fell for Sri Lanka’s manufacturing sector in the six-month period, but by a lower average percentage than the figure recorded for leather and footwear. The total figure was more than $4.3 billion, which gives an overall decline compared to the first six months of 2019 of 26.4%.
