Climbing events cancelled following Chinese government announcement
The International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) has announced the cancellation of the three World Cup competitions scheduled to take place in China in the second half of the year.

These events were scheduled to take place in Chongqing, Wujiang and Xiamen between October 23 and December 6.

IFSC said it was reacting to an announcement on July 9 from China General Administration of Sport that, in principle, the country will host no further international sports events this year.

The authorities will make an exception for trials for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games and what the IFSC called “a few other important events”.

It has not cancelled the IFSC Asian Championships, scheduled for Xiamen from December 10 to 13. It said it will make a decision about this event at a later date.
