A Danish start-up is using leather off-cuts from Ecco production to make bags and accessories.

Zendoo’s founders, Maria Marqard Radoor and Sanne Ravn Lorenzen, met in 2014 when they were both involved in the Danish Red Cross Youth.

Their work was focused on helping marginalised children, and it became clear that the best way to help children is to help their mothers.

Sanne Ravn Lorenzen said: "The people who work for us come with a special profile and background that makes it difficult for them to fit into the job market.

“We offer a is a creative space and the necessary guidance to prepare them for a future in a regular job. We do that by offering them a holistic programme that aims for professional as well as personal progression.”

ECCO’s products are sold in 99 countries from over 2,250 shops and more than 14,000 sales points. It is family-owned, founded in Denmark in 1963, and employs 21,300 people worldwide.
