Change of role for LWG manager
Manager of the Leather Working Group (LWG), Deborah Taylor, has taken up a new post as a consultant working on the project to enhance traceability and transparency for sustainable value chains for garments and footwear that the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) is running.
Ms Taylor, a frequent participant in leather industry conferences in recent times, had spent almost five years managing the LWG, the multi-stakeholder group that was founded in 2005 by a small group of brands and leather manufacturers with the aim of improving environmental standards in tannery operations.
The UNECE project will also seek to set up a multi-stakeholder policy platform on traceability standards for shoes and garments by 2022. Its overall aim is to accelerate action that will lead to what it has called “a sustainable and circular garment and footwear industry”.
