Clarks to cut 900 jobs
Shoe chain Clarks has announced that it will cut 900 office jobs worldwide over the next 18 months. It announced 160 redundancies immediately, including more than 100 at its headquarters in Somerset.
It said this was part of a wider turnaround plan that will also involve the creation of 200 new jobs. It currently employs around 13,000 people globally.
Chief executive, Giorgio Presca, said: “There are exciting opportunities ahead for our business and we are having to make some difficult decisions to get there.”
