The chairman of the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA), Li Yuzhong, has said he expects “rapid growth” in the Chinese economy in the next few months.

Mr Li said business activity and daily life in China have returned more or less to “normal” following weeks of lockdown to halt the spread of covid-19. He said: “The Chinese consumer market is making a steady recovery. The strong consumer market has undoubtedly boosted demand for raw materials such as leather, tanning chemicals and machinery, shoe materials and so on.”

In light of this, he encouraged international suppliers to attend the All China Leather Exhibition in Shanghai from September 1-3. He said Chinese leather companies are “eager to find business opportunities”.

The CLIA chairman said ACLE can be a platform for relaunching the industry.
