Brazilian shoe manufacturers exported 104.2 million pairs of footwear in the first 11 months of 2019, generating revenues of $886.3 million. According to national footwear industry association Abicalçados, these figures represent growth of 3.8% in volume and of 0.9% in value compared to the same period in 2018.

Executive president, Haroldo Ferreira, said Brazilian footwear firms benefited from the trade dispute between China and the US, but experienced challenges from an economic downturn in Argentina.

Brazil exported more than 10.8 million pairs of footwear to the US over the 11-month period, with a value of more than $180 million, year-on-year growth of 26.5% in volume and of 28.2% in value.

Its second most important market, Argentina, imported 9.3 million pairs of footwear from Brazil over the period, paying a total of $98.3 million for them, declines of 18.3% and 27% respectively.
