Consultancy comes on board to help turn Clarks around

Footwear group Clarks has appointed business consultancy McKinsey to carry out a review of its business.

In its most recent full-year results, Clarks reported a 3.7% decline in sales revenues. In the UK and Ireland, which contribute 70% of overall sales, the fall was 6.3%.

In those figures, the company reported a bottom-line loss of £20.9 million and said the clearest  reason for this was the cost of running its shops.

The group runs more than 500 stores in the UK and Ireland and employs almost 12,000 people there.
