New brand aims for “regeneration of the great British shoe”
Footwear entrepreneur Phil Cody has launched a shoe brand intended to serve as “a regeneration of the great British shoe”. Described as affordable luxury shoes that combine British craftsmanship and Italian design, the debut AW collection ranges from Chelsea boots to casual trainers to suede loafers.

“The handwriting of our product is inspired by Italian shoemaking; their flair for relaxed constructions and material finishing,” said Mr Cody. “The attention to detail on brand application and every aspect of the shoe has been thought through in meticulous detail, from the utilisation of high-grade materials to the sustainably-sourced, recycled packaging each pair is delivered in.”

With more than 20 years of experience in the footwear industry, Mr Cody was inspired to create a shoe brand that championed British-made European style and produced high-end quality footwear but didn’t bear an excessive price tag.

The Handley, for example, is a reimagined Chelsea boot with a pared-back construction in premium Janus Calf Suede from British-born Steads and Co. of Leeds, UK, and retails for £249. The Sorby trainer is a modern classic sneaker constructed with Eurotre’s Italian full-calf leather lining, retailing around £199.

Shoes are crafted in Sheffield, England, which is celebrated in design details. The area’s steelmaking heritage is captured in the Cody & Co logo – chains, flames and an anvil – and a Yorkshire rose-print is embossed onto the lining of every shoe.
