Footwear and leathergoods brand Salvatore Ferragamo has received SA8000 social accountability certification, which covers aspects such as workers’ rights, protection against child labour and health and safety.

The group received the certification for all its Italian operations: its headquarters in Florence, its Osmannoro design lab, the logistics hub and stores.

Ferruccio Ferragamo, president of the Italian group, said: “This an important milestone and one that demonstrates our commitment to ethics. Compliance means considering the social impact of our business, in addition to the conditions in which our employees, partners and suppliers operate.”

The company has also extended ISO 14064 certification to all its Italian operations. Compliance entails measuring the greenhouse gas emissions of its businesses to calculate carbon footprint.

Salvatorre Ferragamo employs 4,000 and operates 661 mono-brand stores.
