Hugo Boss opts for Olivenleder

Olivenleder is the generic name for leather articles made using residues from the olive oil industry. The process, which was first offered by Heller-Leder in 2011 and is also known as wet green, uses the leaves of the olive trees that are traditionally discarded and burned.
Hugo Boss said the leather’s use of tanning agents that are 100% natural and biodegradable helped it make the decision to use it.
It has a total of nine Olivenleder products in the collection, comprising shoes, accessories and apparel. Garments include a bomber-style jackets, a parka and a biker-style jackets. Accessories include gloves and the footwear component is an athletic-style shoe in a range of colours.
It believes it will be the first global fashion brand to sell “substantial numbers” of Olivenleder products and has said it thinks this will help drive “a responsible future” for the leather industry.
