FT luxury summit takes place in Madrid

LVMH, Manolo Blahnik, Loro Piana and Alexander McQueen were among the luxury companies who had speakers at the 2019 edition of the Financial Times’ Business of Luxury Summit, which took place from May 20-21 in Madrid.

The event was formally opened on the evening of May 19 at the Museo Nacional del Prado, the leading Spanish national art museum, with attendees given the opportunity to take a private tour. 

The keynote address on May 20 was delivered by Sidney Toledano, chairman and CEO of the LVMH Fashion Group. Other speakers on the opening day included Kristina Blahnik, chief executive of footwear brand Manolo Blahnik; Jonathan Anderson, creative director of luxury brand Loewe; and Remo Ruffini, chief executive of high-end sports apparel brand Moncler.

The second day saw interventions from Emmanuel Gintzburger, chief executive of the Alexander McQueen brand; Fabio d'Angelantonio, CEO of Loro Piana; and the eponymous founder of Agatha Ruiz de la Prada.
