The government has set the industry a target of $830 million for the first nine months of the business year. The target for the full year is more than $1.1 billion.

Revenues from exports of finished leather declined by 3% to just under $135 million, while the export revenue over the nine-month period from shipments of finished leathergoods declined by more than 37%, sliding to $178 million.

Leather footwear exports provided some consolation, rising by 7.8% to reach nearly $460 million for the nine months.
