Leather Naturally is close to funding target

Campaign to promote leather to consumers, Leather Naturally, is close to reaching a fundraising target of $1.5 million, which it set itself in September 2018. It will use the funding to launch a global campaign to present leather in a positive light to, in particular, younger generations of designers and consumers.

Speaking at an event at APLF 2019 in Hong Kong on March 14, Leather Naturally spokesperson, Fernando Bellese, said: “We are happy to say we are very close to the target now, more than 90% of the way there. We expect to achieve 100% in the next few days.”

Chairman, Egbert Dikkers (pictured), said the organisation had also been working to set up a new legal entity for Leather Naturally. It has chosen the Netherlands as its base, for ease of company start-up procedures and tax benefits there.

He said membership doubled in 2018 to 55 supporting companies and that, since the start of 2019, this figure has increased again to around 70, with 20 different countries represented in the group.
