The latest issue of World Footwear is now available
The March/April issue of World Footwear magazine is now available. The full e-zine can be accessed here.

This issue has women’s shoes as its focus. An extensive technical offering includes a look at the history of the Louis heel, still a staple of high-end women’s footwear, and an examination of how the changing shape of the female foot is affecting the way in which high heels are designed.

There is also information about how Susterra bio-based propanediol, developed by DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products, is making waves in the footwear industry, and we offer an update on the latest version of a virtual prototyping solution from Spanish footwear technology institute Inescop. Our technical editor also stands up in defence of leather, which is being wrongly drawn into the debate around meat consumption.

In keeping with the main theme, we explore the life of renowned women’s shoe designer Manolo Blahnik, who has spent more than 40 years creating footwear that makes women feel great.

Other features include a look at how sportswear brands are addressing the important use of fit and a round-up of the shoes on show at the recent ISPO exhibition. There are also details of a proposal for a new footwear factory in Nigeria’s Sokoto state.
