Second edition of LVMH’s training programme in Italy

28/11/2018
Luxury group LVMH formally launched the second academic year of the Italian arm of its Institut des Métiers d’Excellence (IME) initiative on November 23.

The programme aims to pass on savoir-faire and artisan skills in leathergoods and other disciplines to a new generation of craftspeople. LVMH announced in July 2017 that it would expand IME to Italy and has set up a headquarters in Florence to coordinate its work there.

The first academic year in Italy included two programmes, including one delivered with the help of Florence-based fashion and design school Polimoda dedicated to leathergoods craftsmanship.

There are three new programmes for 2018. They are:

In women’s shoes with Politecnico Calzaturiero in Capriccio di Vigonza (Veneto region);
In men’s shoes with Académie du Savoir-faire Berluti in Ferrare (Emilia Romagna region);
In retail sales with Università Ca’Foscari Venezia in Venice.

Chantal Gaemperle, LVMH executive vice president of human resources and synergies, said: “LVMH clearly recognises the importance and excellence of Italian savoir-faire. The development of our Institut des Métiers d’Excellence in Italy reflects the group’s commitment to playing an active role in training young people and developing job opportunities available to them.”
