Toms to help tackle US gun violence
22/11/2018
Toms has said it will invest $5 million in organisations across the US that are committed to addressing “the complex nature of gun violence” through programmes in, for example, mental health, suicide prevention, and more.
It has put a link on its website to help customers send a message to members of Congress urging the politicians “to take immediate action on this issue”.
Founder, Blake Mycoskie, said he had been inspired by the organisations that have led the campaign for change and by students “who have shown us unimaginable bravery and tenacity” in the face of attacks on schools. He said Toms is ready “to do our part”.
In its 12 years in business, Toms has given away 86 million pairs of shoes, provided 600,000 people with sight restoration treatment, and helped secure 600,000 weeks of safe water to many communities.
