Peru’s government has announced new investment of around $2.2 million to enhance a footwear manufacturing cluster in the city of Arequipa.

Production minister, Raúl Pérez-Reyes, said at the time of the announcement that the aim of the new funding was to help around 1,000 small enterprises in the footwear and leather sector in Arequipa become more competitive. “We want to help them invest in new technology for every aspect of their businesses,” the minister said.

He made the announcement jointly with the president of Peru, Martin Vizcarra (in the centre in this image, with Mr Pérez-Reyes on the left).
