Pentland announces new brand director for Ellesse

Pentland Brands has named Simon Breckon as the new brand director for Ellesse. Mr Breckon joins the group, whose other brands include Speedo, Mitre, Canterbury and Berghaus, after an extensive career in building brands, mostly in the fast moving consumer goods sector.

Founded in 1959 by Leonardo Servadio, Italian sports fashion brand Ellesse pioneered athleisure, according to Pentland, with the dream of creating the world’s most stylish sportswear. It said Mr Breckon will lead a strategy of growth for Ellesse. He will take up his new appointment on September 10.
 
Richard Newcombe, global president of Pentland’s footwear division, said on making the announcement: “Simon is an accomplished brand leader with a deep understanding of how to make brands matter to consumers. His appointment comes at a particularly exciting time for Ellesse, as the brand experiences unprecedented levels of growth and continues its expansion into key strategic markets in North America and China.”
