FILK announces new research director

Freiberg-based research institute for leather, FILK, has announced Dr Michael Meyer as its new research director. Dr Meyer took up this position of scientific, research and development leadership within the organisation on June 1.

He has worked at FILK since 1998 and built a strong track record in research and development in leather and collagen before becoming head in 2001 of FILK’s leather and biopolymers department. He has also been a lecturer in the science behind leather and gelatine manufacturing at Freiberg’s Bergakademie technical university.

Dr Michael Meyer is the author of five patent applications and numerous scientific publications. He is a member of the VGCT (the German association of leather technologists and chemists) and of Tegewa, Germany’s national chemicals manufacturers’ association.
