This issue focuses on children’s footwear. It includes a closer look at German brand Ricosta, which earlier this year became the first shoe company to incorporate Sympatex lining materials made from recycled polyester. We also hear from Croatia’s Froddo, a children’s brand with a commitment to using natural materials.
An extensive technical offering features an explanation of why testing is so important when it comes to children’s footwear and an examination of a research project designed to explore the information available online about children’s foot health. We also revisit the Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto to offer a pictorial account of what children’s shoes used to look like.
In our Love of Shoes section, we hear how the qualities of Lenzing’s plant-based Tencel fibre have been enough to convince wool footwear brand Allbirds to take a step away from its preferred material.
