Leather to feature prominently on UITIC Congress programme

18/04/2018
UITIC, the International Union of Shoe Industry Technicians, has released the full programme for its 2018 international congress. This event, the twentieth UITIC Congress, will take place in Porto from May 16-18, with factory visits taking place in the build-up.

A number of speakers will focus on leather in their presentations. For example, Alvaro Flores of Brazilian tanning industry association CICB will introduce the audience to the Brazilian Leather Certification of Sustainability, and Francisca Aran, from Spanish research institute Inescop, will talk about using plasma laser technology to add functionality to leather.

In another interesting presentation, Régy Lety Soex from CTC in France will speak about new ideas for how to manage leather shoes at the end of life, focusing on methods for disassembling, sorting and reusing the material.
