Italian footwear companies confirm that Kazakhstan is key

Forty Italian footwear brands travelled to the capital of Kazakhstan in early April for the Shoes from Italy Almaty event.

Industry body Assocalzaturifici has described the event as “an essential business opportunity” for the sector’s professionals not just from Kazakhstan, but from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan too. “The event plays an important role as a promotional hub for the entire Central Asian market,” Assocalzaturifici said.

Kazakhstan itself is the second-largest market for Italian shoes in the region, after Russia. Italian footwear companies shipped 338,000 pairs of shoes to Kazakhstan last year, earning €24.8 million, an increase compared to the previous year of 6.9%.
