Stella International is making cheaper shoes

16/03/2018
Footwear group Stella International has reported an increase of 7% in the number of pairs of shoes it shipped in 2017 compared to the previous year.

In 2017, Stella shipped 56.6 million pairs of shoes and brought in revenues of a little under $1.6 billion. Its revenues registered an increase of only 1.7% and its average selling price per pair was down by 5% to $26.70.

The company attributed this to changes to its product mix, which means it included a higher number of shoes at the cheaper end of the market in its collections. Chief executive, Lawrence Chen, said the ‘fashion athletic’ segment will continue to increase in importance in future Stella collections, although he added that its fashion and casual products remain “highly important”.
