Wolverine makes changes for Hush Puppies in the UK and Ireland

Footwear group Wolverine World Wide has appointed Gloucester-based company Gardiner Bros & Co Leathers as the new distributor for the UK and Ireland for its Hush Puppies suede shoe brand.

Gardiners was an existing partner in the UK for Hush Puppies but has now been given what commercial director, Alex Souter, describes as the status of “full distributorship”, a reflection, Mr Souter has said, of a decision Wolverine has taken no longer to employ its own sales teams in the UK market. We have asked Wolverine to confirm this.

“The exciting part about the change to exclusive full distributorship is that we will now, under licence, be able to conceptualise, range, manufacture and go to market with Hush Puppies products,” Mr Souter told leatherbiz. “It’s a big deal for the UK to be converted into a licensed market. It conveys a huge amount of trust towards us and on Wolverine’s behalf a large appetite to get product that is exciting and fit for UK consumers.”

On behalf of Wolverine, Hush Puppies brand director in Europe, Adam Green, commented: “This is an exciting time for the Hush Puppies brand. We are delighted to be partnering with the Gardiners team in this new capacity. Gardiners have proven consistently their ability to service the UK market and with further team investment and tailored customer relationships they will ensure continued success in not only the UK but also in Ireland.”
