Colombian industry prepares for high-level seminar programme

06/11/2017
Companies in the leather value chain in Colombia are preparing for a series of seminars that will take place from November 14-17 in two different cities. The same programme will be delivered in Cali on the first two days and then in the national capital, Bogotá.

Organisers have said the aim will be to bring Colombian footwear manufacturers and tanners up to date on innovative industrial processes that will help them improve their productivity and competitiveness.

One important component of the seminar programme will be the results of a study that Roberto Vago, from the technical department at Italian tanning and footwear machinery manufacturers’ association, Assomac, has carried out. Mr Vago has visited the main clusters in Colombia for footwear and leather manufacturing and will deliver his assessment of the technological set-up that companies currently have in place.

Another main contributor will be Brazil-based consultant Angela Strottmann, who will share details of a system that Brazilian companies have found helpful in improving their environmental management.
