Decathlon opens Israel’s biggest sports store

Sports retail and manufacturing group Decathlon has opened its first store in Israel at a prominent location at the Gone shopping mall in Rishon LeZion, just outside Tel Aviv.

Covering 3,000 square-metres and offering clothing, footwear and equipment for 60 different acivities, Decathlon has said its store immediately became the biggest sports store in Israel.

The company said it was impressed by the Israeli population’s passion for sports, quoting a study that says 56% of citizens over the age of 21 regularly take part in sports activity, with basketball, football, running, yoga and fitness the most popular.

It took Decathlon five months to complete the construction of the store, which employs more than 70 people.
