A welcome return for long boots

08/09/2017
Long boots are back, which ought to be good news for the leather industry.

The Financial Times has reported that stocks of a new style from Saint Laurent, the Niki, which has 3,000 Swarovski crystals on each boot from toe to thigh, sold out within weeks on luxury online shopping site Net-A-Porter, despite a price tag of almost £7,000 per pair.

This has prompted repeat orders, and something of a frenzy on specialist second-hand fashion website Vestiaire Collective, where pre-owned Nikis are already selling for £10,000.

Other labels, including high-street retailers, are following Saint Laurent’s lead by including long boots in their new-season collections. Isabel Marant is among the other big-name fashion houses to offer past-the-knee boots, with a style called Lostynn.

Mainstream retailers to have included their own versions in forthcoming winter collections include Zara and Russell & Bromley.
