Insqin can help shoe brands reduce carbon footprint, says Covestro
Polymer manufacturer Covestro has published a life-cycle assessment in which it says its Insqin coating has half the carbon footprint of solvent-based technology.

The water-based product was recently chosen by Puma for its Vigor 1 football boot (see World Footwear July-August).

The assessment showed that, from the cradle to material factory gate, the global warming potential for 1,000 square meters of waterborne PU synthetic is 45% less than that of solvent-based PU synthetic.

Nick Smith, Covestro’s head of textile coatings, said: “The LCA provides an extra layer of assurance in the environmental performance of Insqin. It shows brands that this technology can help them reach their sustainability targets.”
