The prime minister of Chad has visited a Sudanese shoe factory as part of a three-day trip to boost bilateral trade.

Albert Pahimi Padacke toured the Saria Company for Advanced Works, which makes around 1.8 million pairs of military boots per year for the Sudanese army and 4 million pairs of school shoes. It also exports military footwear.

Saria bought the White Nile Tannery, which was named winner for Africa in Tannery of the Year 2016, in 2011.

Saria chairman Ali Mohamed Salim expressed his desire to work with Chad, and hinted the company could open a branch in the neighbouring country.
