New school for children of Bangladeshi footwear workers

The Leathergoods & Footwear Manufacturers & Exporters Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB) recently inaugurated a community primary school for the children of its workers.

The school is located in Ashulia, on the outskirts of the capital city Dhaka. It is the first such school in the area. LFMEAB plans to establish two more in the future.

LFMEAB has also distributed health and medical cards to a further 2,000 workers at two of its member factories. This brings the total number of workers that have them to 22,000. They can be used to get free treatment at 200 health facilities across Bangladesh.
